We have been talking about human suffering what it is and why it goes on. This suffering is innate to being a human. In this episode we are going to go into the topic of Post Traumatic Growth. Many of you may be familiar with the well-known topic of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. This is not to be confused. We are not claiming to be doctors here or discounting the seriousness of this disorder.
We are simply offering the flipside of this disorder onto a more positive view of the growth we receive from trauma.
Trauma is a hallmark feature of human life. Why? Trauma takes something that was whole and splits it into two. What follows that is a choice. To remain broken or to reintegrate.
Post traumatic growth is this concept of reintegrating. The awareness needs to grow—it needs to expand. You have something that was one, then splits, so the field needs to expand to hold it as one whole thing again. Division can be fuel for re-unification. Trauma can be rocket fuel for unification. Example: A bone that breaks, mends together stronger than it was initially.
Some of you maybe still are asking WHY?? Why all the trauma and hurt? We found a study that offers a unique view. A study on the idea of evolutionary codes being beamed onto earth– like updates. We have become insular codes and the codes cannot get into the system. We need to open up to let in the updates. Sometimes, our shell has to be cracked so that we are open to the new information coming in.
Healing and growth involves deliberate rumination: thinking reflectively about what happened, about ourselves and our lives. One can start to think in the way of what has been given to us, what is the healing?
Can you think of any traumas you have learned from that you have been able to take back to your community as a gift? Our invitation for you to do some healing writing. What gifts can any trauma you may have experienced, offer to members of your trybe?
