ep.4 Upper Limit Problem
Welcome back to another episode of Spiritual Fitness!
Join us as we discuss and identify our own limiting problems, possibilities of where they come from and ideas on what to do about these internal limits we have on ourselves that we might not even know we have.
We keep ourselves comfortable and within our zone by staying at our limit of happiness. Author Gay Hendricks discusses this in his book, the Big Leap. Many of us have something called the Upper Limit Problem. This mindset only allows us to go so far before we begin to sabotage our own happiness. Questioning our inner voice of negative self-talk or limiting self-talk. Does this internal conversation keep you from moving forward?
Remember the inner talk is not necessarily true. We can believe that we are only allowed a certain amount of happiness; waiting for something negative to happen. Some of these beliefs start in childhood which can filter into everything we do in life.
Outside worldly expectations which we have not agreed to, can tend to become road blocks. It is important to notice who we are surrounding ourselves with and the influence they may be having on our internal game. For example, being surrounded by alcohol can tend to bring down your own energy either by conversation or just plain energy in the area.
Begin to pay attention when you are flying high, what are you doing when you feel that good?
What is your next move? These answers should begin to show you if you are functioning with an upper limit problem.
